The NFL Draft was held from April 27-29, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri. This NFL Draft was very exciting with some unexpected picks and also some really bad ones as well. So let's get to breaking down this year's NFL Draft!
The NFL Draft is one of the most anticipated events in the sports calendar, because of all of the young college football players that will be potential NFL studs. Now let's talk about the best and worst picks. In my opinion the best pick in the first round of the draft is the Las Vegas Raiders picking Tyree Wilson from Texas Tech. This was easily the best pick of the draft because with Tyree Wilson and Maxx Crosby on the Raiders D-Line, they should be a formidable pair. He was insane in his senior year at Texas Tech with 61 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks. And get this: he only played 10 games out of the 13 they played. With him and Maxx Crosby on the line, they are going to be a force to be reckoned with for the quarterbacks in the AFC West.
What was the worst pick in the NFL Draft? This is easily the Packers picking Luke Van Ness out of Iowa. Now I have nothing against Luke Van Ness, I think that he is a decent linebacker who is a hard hitter and has potential, but what is the Packers front office doing?
They lost their two best players in a span of two years, and their offense is dying with a mediocre quarterback in Jordan Love, a mid o-line, and one good wide receiver. So what do you do? You obviously pick a linebacker that helps your offense in no way whatsoever.
Who had the best and worst total draft class? In my opinion the best team's draft class was the Pittsburgh Steelers who filled in every gap they had to fill. In the first round they picked up the best OT in the draft in Broderick Jones out of Georgia. They also picked up two key cornerbacks in Joey Porter, Jr. and Corey Trice, Jr. Yes that's right, Joey Porter, Jr. is the son of legendary two-time Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Joey Porter! Another Porter is back in Pittsburgh. They also picked up two offensive lineman to beef up their line in Broderick Jones and Spencer Anderson. They also picked up two defensive lineman in DT Keeanu Benton and Edge rusher Nick Herbig. And my favorite pick of them all, TE Darnell Washington from Georgia who is 6 7” and weighs 269 pounds. He is a monster at the tight end position who just keeps on rumbling for more yards and cannot be stopped.
The worst drafting team? The Dallas Cowboys. Come on, what are they doing? They just picked a lot of mediocre defensive players when their defense is already pretty good. And the offensive players they picked were in the late rounds…other than tight end Luke Schoonmaker, whom they drafted in the second round. Schoonmaker is a blocking tight end, and does not help the Cowboys offense.. They needed someone to replace Dalton Schultz and they clearly did not do that. All in all the Cowboys did nothing to improve their team and most of the players they picked are going to ride the bench.
