Speedcubing by Sigurdur Steinsson

Created by the architect Erno Rubik, Rubik’s cube have been around since 1980. Within the next three years, it is estimated that they sold 200 million units, and in 1981 the first “speedcubing” championship was hosted in Munich, Germany.

Speedcubing is somewhat self-explanatory:  you try to solve the Rubik’s cube in the shortest amount of time. Recently the world record was broken, a 3x3x3 Rubik’s cube has been solved in 3.47 seconds. A 2x2x2 was solved in 0.49 seconds! That is insane!

Cubers memorize algorithms for different situation where they have split seconds to decide which to use. Overall cubing is an addictive hobby for the fact that it feels amazing to solve it, I highly recommend you try it.
