Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Review by Nakula Balachandran and Cooper Leitzell
Storyline
Link and Zelda have defeated calamity ganon at Hyrule castle, but as they go searching for more answers, they stumble across a body. A body covered in malus/gloom that is hollowed and dead. Zelda ends up falling into a pit in the clash against this mysterious body. As Link wakes up after trying to save Zelda, he realizes he is not on the ground, but on a floating island. When Link makes his way to the ground, he makes his way to Lookout Landing. He realizes that after he got the paraglider, this mysterious body had created 4 mysterious monsters. Link has to explore the land and defeat these monsters and defeat the mysterious body.
Dungeons
The dungeons in this game are significantly better than Breath of the wild. These dungeons are filled with tough puzzles that will really put your brain to work.another reason is that the storylines for these dungeons have a much better plot and require you to do a quest to get to a dungeon. You may be thinking “well you had to do puzzles to get into dungeons in Breath of the Wild” these puzzles offer a much harder challenge including the plus side of getting weapons as you move along the storyline.
Abilities
Yunobo ability
As you may know, when you complete the fire dungeon, you get this ability which is a ghost of Yunobo. You can fire this version of Yunobo which when it impacts with an object, it will explode in a big fiery cloud.
Sidon ability
This ability gives you a ghost version of sidon that you get from the water dungeon. This ability when you use it, you get a shield of water around you.
Riju ability
For this ability, you get a ghost version of Riju, which you get from the lighting dungeon. This ability generates a huge field of electricity which when you hit anything in the surrounding area, it will get struck by a big bolt of lightning.
Tulins ability
This ability you get a ghost version of Tulin, which you get from the wind temple. This ability causes a gust of wind when you're paragliding which boosts you forward.
Comparisons
As you know, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are very popular games on the Nintendo Switch, but which one is better? First of all, in our opinion, the dungeons are way better in Tears of the Kingdom and are more puzzling, but Breath of the Wild is a much harder game. The shrines are better in Breath of the Wild because they offer more of a challenge.
Our Rating of Tears of the Kingdom
Nakula - The overall gameplay of TOTK impressed me. This game is a newer generation of the Zelda series and the storyline had a very nice twist. But some things are not as good as in BOTW. Like the champion abilities and the shrines.
OVERALL RATING FOR TOTK: 9.5/10
OVERALL RATING FOR BOTW: 9.3/10
Cooper - The overall gameplay of TOTK is really impressive for being on the Nintendo Switch. This game's storyline is good and makes sure to incorporate parts of Breath of the Wild’s storyline. Overall, I rate this game a 10/10 and a must play for any Legend of Zelda fan.
