William’s Monster Movie Review - Episode 1: Godzilla Minus One by William Gartner

Non-Spoiler Summary of Film:

A couple of years after the end of WW2, former Kamikaze pilot and survivor Shikishima is still feeling guilt from the war, but when Godzilla returns, Shikishima must rise to the occasion.

My Review:

I saw this most recent Reiwa Era Godzilla film three times, and this film was fantastic. It had great CGI and the characters were over the top, but that's what you expect from a Godzilla film. The film is less campy than the others, which I love, and this version of Godzilla is not a hero like its American counterpart. Also, it has character development, unlike the previous Toho Godzilla film. I was informed about this film by Mr. Harper, and I got to see the black and white version, but it was just as good. This film had a budget of just $15 million, and it is the first Godzilla film to be nominated for the Oscars.

William’s Monster Movie Rating: 98 out of 100.

When this comes out on DVD, I will definitely pick up a copy.
