Movie Review: Into the Woods by Ariana Hoy and Virginia DeArmitt

The new movie, Into The Woods, is a movie based off of the famous musical.  Many schools have done the musical Into the Woods before as a musical, for example Penn State has done this musical. The movie has many famous actors in it like Johnny Depp (the big bad wolf), Chris Pine (Cinderellas Prince), Anna Kendrick (Cinderella), Meryl Streep (the Witch), James Corden (the Baker), Emily Blunt (the bakers wife), Tracy Ullman (Jacks Mother), Lilla Crawford (little red riding hood), Daniel Huttlestone (Jack), MacKenzie Mauzy (Rapunzel), Billy Magnussen (Rapunzels Prince), Christine Baranski (Cinderella’s stepmother), Lucy Punch (Lucinda), Frances de la Tour (The Giant), and Tammy Blanchard (Florinda). These are the main characters in the movie.

What happens in the movie is the Baker and his Wife want a baby but they can't have one. They live next door to a Witch, who put a curse on their house, because of what the bakers father did in the past. The curse is that their family tree would be barren. The witch wasn't satisfied with just that, so she took the bakers sister who we know as Rapunzel.  The baker’s father took the witch’s magic beans in the past which caused her to put the curse on the house and set a spell on herself that made her ugly . Many years went by and finally it was the year of the Blue Moon. In order for both curses to be removed the Witch told the baker and his wife what they needed to find before Midnight of the Blue Moon. The items included: A Cow as white as milk, Hair as yellow as corn, A cape as red as blood, and a slipper as gold as gold. In order to find these items the baker has to go Into the Woods. While in the woods the baker has to go through many obstacles in order to find these items. And along the way he meets many characters from familiar fairy tale stories that you have heard before to help the baker and his wife get a baby child. Filled with comedy, adventure, and great music, this is a movie that all will love.
