Who is going to be in the 12-team CFB playoff? By Marshall Laskowski and Quinn Cunningham
1. Oregon
Oregon is the best team in the country and it will stay that way. They have already beaten Ohio State who is one of the other best teams in the country and they have gotten better as the year goes on.
2. Georgia
Georgia is a powerhouse if they hadn’t lost to Alabama they would be the number one team in the country but because of their offensive struggles, they have not performed to the best of their ability. But I have confidence after their win against Texas who was number 1 in the country that they will win the SEC.
3. Iowa State
The Big 12 is not the best conference but Iowa State is a great team and will come out on top of this and end up third at the time the playoff starts. They will keep playing well and hope for a big run in the playoffs.
4. Pittsburgh
Pitt is the best team in the ACC; They have a dominant offense and a solid defense and I believe that they will defeat the favorite in the ACC right now, Clemson. I feel that Pitt is the better team and they have a very strong chance to be one of the best teams in college football.
5. Penn State
Penn State has started off hot and many people think that this team is different and can finally beat Ohio State and make a run. They are 6-0 and have a couple impressive win such as beating USC on the road in overtime. It would be great if they beat OSU but if they lose they still have a great chance to make it if they win all of their other games (which won’t be easy).
6. Texas
Texas was my favorite to win the SEC until they fell to Georgia for their only loss of the year. They are still a great team they still have a strong offense and a solid defense but I just don't see them defeating Georgia who can step their game up in crucial moments and I feel that Texas has been struggling with the quarterback situation as one of the Heisman favorites got hurt and they now need to figure out how to play forward if they are going to play him or not after they benched him against Georgia.
7. Ohio State
Ohio State has lots of talent, maybe the most in the nation. However, lots of that talent is young. They will still be a great one or two-loss team that would have a great chance to make the playoffs and go far.
8 . Miami
Cam Ward is one of the best quarterbacks in the country and has led Miami to a 7-0 start. They have eked out some close wins but are undefeated and ranked sixth in the nation so overall they are in a good spot. We don’t think they’ll beat out Pitt in the ACC but they will still get a good position in the CFP.
9. LSU
LSU is 6-1 after losing their first game to USC they have played great beating great teams such as Ole Miss. They have a tough schedule and will have to play well to get to the CFP and beyond. They have a good team though and are ready for the challenge.
10.Tennessee
Tennessee is coming off a crucial victory over Alabama which will probably ultimately end up in them edging out Bama in the CFP. They are 6-1 and have a tough road game against Georgia later in the season but even if they lose similarly to Penn State they should be good to get in the playoff and could make a run with lots of talent.
11. Indiana
No one expected Indiana to be in this position at the start of the season but they have proven that they deserve it because they have started 7-0 and are coming off a 56-7 win over Nebraska. Their quarterback Kurtis Rourke has been incredible and if he and the team continue to play this way they will go a long way.
12. Boise State
Boise State will likely get in as the group of 5 representatives. They have the Heisman favorite in Ashton Jeanty and they don’t need much else because he is that good. They are 5-1 with their only loss coming to first-ranked Oregon by only 3. They will be a lot of fun to watch if they get into the CFP.
