Opinion: The Best Pets by Sarah Crutchfield

If you were wondering what the best pet is, well that depends on you. You can have a guinea pig and that might be the best pet for you, but not me. Here are some of the most recommended pets:

  1. Dog (Obviously)- Because they are very loyal and some are good watch dogs.

  2. Fish- Because watching them glide around the water can have a calming effect on a person.

  3. Birds- Because they are very smart. If you teach them they can speak and obey commands.

  4. Cats- Because they are very playful when they aren’t tired and are very agile.

  5. Hamsters- Because they are self content, they will play with themselves all day long. (Your parents wish you were like that I guarantee it)

  6. Guinea Pigs- Because they are easy to care for.

  7. Rats- Because they are very loveable and once they form a bond with you you two will be inseparable.

  8. Rabbits- Because they are quiet. Especially nice if you live in an apartment or dorm.

  9. Hedgehogs- Because they are exotic but not scary looking.

  10. Turtle- Because they listen very well. If you had a hard day and don’t want to talk about it with anyone, talk to your turtle.

On the other side, here are some that you should stay away from.

  1. Arctic Fox- Because it is illegal to have a fox as a pet in some states.

  2. Sugar Glider- Because they have a super strict diet that’s not sold in pet stores.

  3. Venomous Snakes- Because snakes have specialized needs.

  4. Crab Eating Raccoon- Because they are high maintenance.

Tip:  If you are a kid and you want to convince your parents to get you a pet, just ask them when there are a lot of people around;  they will feel pressure and may get you your pet. If that doesn’t work, sorry.
