"Oxygen" and "Shadowplay" Poems by Max Doran

November 17, 2021

Oxygen

The seed grew into a tree and created greener roofs.

Before it got destroyed from a buzz, hack, crash,

to build new housing, don’t they get it,

I am the one who filters your air

and enables you to breathe I

give the shade from the hot

          and dry. So respect the

           needs for the animals

             that make a home

                    out of me.

                    I am their

                       home.

                                                                           - by Max Doran

Shadowplay

A light brighter at darker times

you hear a howl and look up

at the trees surrounding you

see a shadow looking at you

and behind its darkness

light that shines across

the moon and comes

upon you.
