Daydreams of Summer by Amelia Pearson

September 29, 2022

Hallucinating sunshine when the sky is gray

So that it will be less gloomy on a gloomy day

Pretending that the leaves don't change

So that we will stay the same

I know the days are growing shorter

As is my time ‘till the days get colder

When you look back on the moments

Of a summer filled with sun,

Do you regret the secrets we shared,

Or instead are you glad, that we were friends

Even if it all changed in the end

I think of you

As the frost grows on my window

With a smile and a sigh,

But the smile lingers
