Nissan’s New Self-driving… Chairs? By Ben Abel

So you’ve heard of self-driving cars and you’re amazed? How about chairs? The ProPilot chair is a robotic chair that moves on a fixed path without any input from the rider. Based on the technology used in Nissan’s ProPilot cars, the chair is made for people in lines. It detects the chair ahead to prevent collisions. A weight sensor installed inside can tell when the user of the chair in the front stands up and then the chair moves to the back of the line. Nissan is now asking stores to test their product.

The ProPilot chairs are not the first automated chairs that Nissan has manufactured. In the past, Nissan has made a self-parking office chair. So maybe this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to self-driving chairs.
