Personally, I LOVE Chinese food. Especially noodles. Anyone who loves Chinese noodles knows that sometimes you end up slurping them. It just happens. Not anymore. A company named Nissin invented a smart fork called Otohiko. The fork listens to you eat, and if it detects a slurp, it sends a quick signal to your smartphone, which plays a noise so no one can hear you slurp.
Here’s my opinion: I don’t like this idea. First of all, you need to have the app, and have your phone on. You could easily damage your phone by having it where there is food. Sauce could get on it and ruin it! Secondly, the fork is massive and bulky, making it hard to actually use to eat. Third and finally, the main reason people would need this fork is because they slurp too loud and people don’t like that. But the phone would be louder, so people would like that even less, and that defeats the point.
If you find this interesting, it is being sold only in Japan, and for a price of about $130.
