Traxxas Overview:
X-maxx is a brutally big and fast it is impossible to drive it without a big grin on your face
XO-1 stands for experts only the reason traxxas X0-1 is the fastest RC car you can buy 100mph out of the box with 8s and high speed gearing and it comes with it but you have to buy the batteries
Stampede a starter monster truck with a great power and a thin chassis
Maxx the little brother to the x-maxx
Slash a really light and maneuverable short course truck that is a lot of fun to drive
UDR/Unlimited Desert Racer a scale desert truck that is pretty fast
E-Revo 2.0 a whole lotta speed and power packed into a durable truggy
Rustler 4x4 is similar to the e revo with handling and clipless body and is a fun 4wd stadium truck.
Bandit a small older style starter buggy, that with some upgrades can go pretty fast
Arrma Overview:
Infraction is an 80mph out of the box but it has better tires to get more grip and they smoke when you have a burnout and you can do a little bit of off roading in dirt sand and some other places
Granite fun and cheap competition for the stampede also has a very thin chassis
Nero monster truck arrma doesn't sell anymore
Senton Arrma short course with a plastic chassis to compete with the slash
Mojave a scale desert truck to compete with the UDR
Kraton 6s Sort of like an E-revo in a couple ways but a thin metal chassis that can bend a lot
1/10 scale Kraton Plastic chassis is good and fun speeds for beginners or for doing backflips
Kraton 8s Is the newest arrma car (At this time) it's huge truggy that is supposed to compete with the X-maxx
Raider The original arrma and a buggy with a thin metal chassis and side plates
Both Traxxas and Arrma are some of the most popular radio control brands in the world but there is one true question RC enthusiasts ask and that is which is better?
Both Arrma and Traxxas have very similar cars. Like the Infraction and the XO-1, the Kraton and the E-revo, the Granite and the Stampede, and even the Slash and the Senton have similar form factors, but very different platforms. Most of the Arrma cars run on a 6s system out of the box, while the Traxxas cars mostly run 3s out of the box. But the Traxxas is still about the same speed because they are lighter and more aerodynamic. Another advantage of the Traxxas cars is the steering is much faster and the battery lasts much longer.
Arrma doesn't make any crawlers, not a single one, while Traxxas makes 7 RTR crawlers. Traxxas has more beginner cars because you wouldn’t want a 6s Kraton as your first RC car because it goes really fast and breaks pretty easily. It is always good to start with something toy-grade, like a new bright car or something you would get from Target, but after that, Traxxas has the most durable solid cars on the market. Once you are an experienced driver, you may want to invest in Arrma, because their cars are generally bigger and faster. Traxxas does have some of their cars mislabeled possibly. All their bigger cars, like the mighty X-MAXX, Maxx, E revo and E Revo 2.0, Summit, the E-maxx and T- maxx, are bigger than the Stampede (which is labeled as “1/10”). All the cars above are labeled as 1/10 as well, but they all should be labeled as 1⁄8 of for the X-maxx 1⁄6 or even 1/7.
Traxxas also keeps making little tweaks to their cars. Examples of this are the Trx-4 Sport, Defender, Bronco, Blazer and Tactical. They are all pretty much the same with a few upgrades like gear changes and different bodies, and of course different body mounting posts. It is also important to note that the Trx4 Sport only has the bare components. It doesn’t have locking and unlocking diffs or high low gear, but this makes the Trx4 Sport a whole lot cheaper, so that is something you may want to consider. Arrma has different cars and they don’t really like to reproduce cars.
We aren't trying to tell you which brand you should buy, but we can tell you this: If you are looking for speed and power and looks, then you would probably like an Arrma car, but don’t give it to much power to fast (unless you are looking to buy a lot of extra parts). However, if you are looking for durability and practicality, then maybe go with Traxxas. Also, Traxxas parts are cheaper because they are mostly plastic but ultimately RC enthusiasts have enjoyed both Traxxas and Arrma for a long time, so if you read this article and decide to get in to the RC hobby, you should come hang out with us to drive our RCs with us! We think you would have fun with either.
