Earlier this year the “Minecraft Movie” trailer was released, but some people weren't too fond of it. First of all, it looked strange. Some parts were not blocky, at one point the blonde guy creates something that isn’t even in the game (he built two buckets that were connected with a chain!), and a lot of people think the animals look funny or goofy. It makes me feel like they're throwing in all sorts of things to show what they can do.
The movie feels weird being live action and not being animated. I've seen people remake scenes from the trailer as an animation and those fanfilms were smooth, worked well, showed quality and expresion, and these people had a only few months to do these animations. Normal Minecraft has never looked like this; it feels wrong.
Although the movie is called “A Minecraft Movie” and the Minecraft team explained how it's called “A Minecraft Movie” and not “The Minecraft Movie”, this movie simply tells a story about Minecraft in the Minecraft world. This also makes openings for more movies, not sequels, that are fresh stories with new characters. So the movie might not flop, because after all, the game has sold hundreds of millions of copies since release, so there will probably be at least 10’s of millions of people wanting to watch it.
