Park Forest Middle School is participating in a dodgeball tournament to raise money and awareness for Mini Thon. Mini-Thon is part of Penn State’s THON, a student-run organization to help fight pediatric cancer.
How will the tournament work? There are 11 teams in the tournament. Preliminaries will take place on Saturday March 19th: the 6th grade division plays at 9am, and the 8th grade division plays at 10am. The finals will take place on Saturday April 1st at 6pm: two teams from each grade level (and a wildcard team made up of the sole 7th grade team) will play in the finals, joined by two teams from Mount Nittany Middle school.
A big round of thanks goes to Mr. Tranell, who has been working hard behind the scenes to organize the dodgeball tournament. He was helped by Mrs. Kellander to develop the permission slip and revise the rule, and by Mrs. Rommell to organize the teams and the game schedule.
When I interviewed Mr. Tranell, I asked who he thought would win. He said, “You’ll have to attend to find out!” Students are welcome to come out, cheer on their friends, and find out who wins. Good luck to all the students who are playing... and watch out for that dodgeball!
