Sixth Grade ROAR Field Day by Audrey Shu

On September 2nd, the 6th grade teams, The “Wolves” and “Mountain Lions” had a ROAR field day. During ROAR field day, 6th graders got to play beach volleyball, flag football, dodgeball, and much more! This ROAR field day was made to build teamwork, and get to know our new friends, and meet up with old friends from the other team.

There were many different stations during the 6th grade ROAR field day. One of the stations were beach volleyball. With the SCASD field at Circleville park, PFMS 6th graders were privileged to have access to a nice, sandy volleyball court. You could hear the laughter of new friends and old friends playing and having fun in the sun and sand.

“Ready? Set? Go!” as soon as you heard Mrs. Nicholson yell those special words, you could guess where majority of the kids went… flag football! It’s no wonder kids love it so much, with action, teamwork, and lots of interaction with you friends, who wouldn’t run straight towards flag football? Flag football definitely built lots of teamwork and friendly relationships between the 6th graders, and is one of the top favorite games of students.

Dodgeball. Everyone knows it’s a game of throwing and dodging balls right? Well, as part of the ROAR field day, it turned into a “meet up an old friend” game. Friends would drag each other towards dodgeball, and immediately start chatting. Starting 6th grade is exciting, and may be a little frightening. Dodgeball was a perfect activity for old friends to give positive support to each other.

Kids will be kids, and who likes being under the sun all day long? Well, for those sun-sensitive kids, Musical Hoops was also a game you could play under the trees and out of the sun. Because of its shaded location, there were almost no kids playing Musical Hoops. But, a group of girls went and gathered tons of 6th graders to play Musical Hoops with the super fun teachers: Mr. Pillot, Herr Strock, and Madame Balaid.  Soon it became a super popular place, perfect for a group of friends to play!

6th grade ROAR field day was a great success, and built a lot of teamwork and even let friends to meet up with old friends. This is such a great activity and hopefully, it will continue on for a long time!
