Dance! By Marissa Klatt

Dance! Dance is a big part of the world. There are a lot of different kinds of dance, including Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Modern, Hip Hop, Tap, and Ballroom. There are other kinds throughout the world.

Dance is really hard, but it can be really fun. Just like school, you have to work at it to get better.

There are many enjoyable aspects to dance.  Some of my favorite parts are the songs, the costumes, the hair and the make-up. These are all fun parts of being on a dance team.

Dance can be viewed as either an art or a sport.  For example, many schools have competition dance teams and also recreational dance. I do dance team. Dance team is hard, but if you commit to it, you can do it. I dance 4 days of the week. I do Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip hop and Production.

What is Production dance, you ask? Well, Production is when a big group of people dance together. There can be 30 to 40 people in a production. There are different ages and different parts.  Production involves working together and requires a lot of coordinated rehearsals, since there are so many people involved.

On the other hand, Recreational dancing is dancing just for fun.   Recreational dancers don’t compete, but they participate in the recital. Recital is really fun. You learn a dance and you keep practicing until the end of the year.  Then you can perform for your mom and dad, and sometimes your grandma and grandpa! Recital is a great way to end the year!

So, that is a little about dance. Well, I hope you learned a little bit of dance!
