Halloween is a holiday every year on October 31st.
The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts because it was believed that the dead would come back to life. Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive activities, costumes and eating treats like candy, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, candy corn, caramel apples, candied apples, caramel corn, and apple bread.
