PFMS Soccer Shuts Out Our Lady of Victory (OLV) by Matthew Staniar

It was a beautiful day on October ninth but light clouds rolled in as our PFMS soccer team took the field against Our Lady of Victory (OLV) ,one of the local teams to State College. OLV is a co-ed team meaning they play boys and girls together, so PFMS got to have a game where both the boys and the girls got to play together. To start out the game girls team captain Maya Bokunewicz scored with a quick shot past OLVs goalie. PFMS had the majority of the possession and was dominating the game. Soon after Maya’s goal, girls co-captain Elle Haushalter scored second for PFMS.

With the score at 2-0, Park Forest kept possession and had amazing passing making OLV run. PFMS’s great play paid off when the third goal was scored by Curtis Walter giving PFMS a three-point lead. As the game played on it became more physical. Some players were being pushy. Soon, PFMS players started racking off goals one by one.

Matt Crawford scored a fourth goal and the physicality was still going on. With great passing, Will Stainar scored two goals one after the next.  A quarter of the way through the game, PFMS had them on their heels with our control and passing. As a result, Evan Degleris scored a seventh goal. While PFMS scored a lot, the defence held down the fort and played a great game along with all the goalies that got time in the net.

After some boys scoring, the girls stepped back up to the plate and Macee Lamb put one in for the 8th goal. Ankur Purao put one in for the second to last goal and the ninth. As the game was coming to an end, OLV got a corner that was stopped by the goalie Burnie. Then to put the icing on the cake Andy Ladrido put one in for ten and put us into double digits. Soon after the game ended and PFMS came out with the 10-0 shutout.
