NBA Season Old and New by Nadine Terreno

2015-16 NBA Season Recap

Without a doubt the 2015-2016 NBA was one of the most exciting NBA seasons yet,

with Steph Curry and Lebron James, obviously the biggest basketball stars of our generation, going head to head in the finals.

And of course we can’t forget Kevin Durant’s sudden, but not too surprising decision he made this summer leaving his hometown Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC) for the Golden State Warriors.

So let’s just take a step back.

So...everyone knows that this was Lebron’s first championship with The Cleveland Cavaliers.  This came just a year after being traded back from The Miami Heat, with which he won three rings alongside Dwayne “D” Wade, and Chris “CB4” Bosh.

His move DID cause a lot of hate. I mean A LOT. But he did it, to prove to himself that he could win a ring on his own without “The Big Three”.

But D Wade’s move to The Bulls did kill most of the hate towards The King. Though CB4 IS left on his own now.

But moving on.

Another HUGE element in this season that I simply CANNOT leave out, is Golden State.

Throughout the season they set the record as the SECOND team in NBA history with the most consecutive wins in a regular season. Right next to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1971-72.

But seriously, that’s impressive.

With point guard Stephen Curry, shooting guard Klay Thompson, power forward Draymond Green, and shooting guard Andre Iguodala on their roster, the only team that could take them down would have to be the Cavs.

Though The Warriors DID win the 2014-15 ring, their game wasn’t as powerful.

Guess what was standing in their way? James!

Of course with every winner, there are losers. When The Cavaliers won, 29 other teams lost.

29. A lot of disappointment going around.

But, in all fairness, The Cavs and Warriors aren’t the ONLY great teams out there.

Take the Clippers for example. They’ve got point guard Chris Paul, and big men Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. That should be enough to be the next Big Three right?

Wrong!

A lot of teams have gotten their “Thunder” taken away by The Cavs and The Warriors.

Even the “Thunder”. Now Russell Westbrook is on his own after KD left.

This all started when shooting guard James Harden left Oklahoma City Thunder back in 2013, leaving KD and Westbrook to fight for the championship.

But after so many lost rings, KD wanted out. And that’s just what he did this summer.

He wanted to win, we have to understand that, but his move did create a lot of hate for OKC fans. Poor Russell.

And that just about sums up a fraction of the season.

There is absolutely no way I can summarize the ENTIRE season into ONE article.

I may do another…

But all in all, it was an amazing season. I think we’re all looking forward to what will go down in this one. Will The Cavs And Golden State meet up again in the finals? Or will a surprise team rise up and snatch the ring?

The first game of the season was on the 25th October, 2016, with The Cavs winning their first game of the season, and Golden State losing theirs. THIS should be exciting. Be sure to tune in.
