Top 10 BOLD Predictions for the 2017 NFL Season: Part I by Hayden Shuey

Hello guys, I’m back with another NFL list: Top 10 BOLD predictions for the 2017 season. The NFL really isn’t a predictable league. Every superstar is at risk of injury on every play. Including David Johnson, who has an injury that will keep him sidelined for a few weeks (RIP my fantasy team). But there are also some people who come from the depths to blow up as a star. A good example is the 4th round pick Dak Prescott from last year with the Cowboys. No one would’ve predicted his success. Then there are some people that are so amazing and consistent it’s disgusting. Today, I will be talking about the first half of my top 10 bold predictions for the NFL season.

10. There are some teams looking to bounce back from last year, like the Carolina Panthers. But there is one team many don’t care about that I feel will no longer be a meme or a team to joke about. I’m saying the Cleveland Browns will go from the 1st pick in the draft to a position between 10-20. I know it sound crazy, but hear me out. DeShone Kizer showed signs of ending the Browns’ quarterback mystery once and for all. He took my Pittsburgh Steelers down to the wire in a 18-21 loss. They were facing a top 5 team. This team has gotten rid of bad apples and added some great pieces, including adding Kevin Zeitler and J.C. Tretter to their offensive line, solidifying it as probably a top 5 line in the league. The defense looks solid. This team has the capability of going between 6-10 and 8-8

9. There are some OLD people in the NFL that still got it. Just look at the New England Patriot’s Tom Brady and Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger. But I feel one of these players will have a dropoff year. Here’s a hint: He’s the Madden 18 cover athlete and his name rhymes with Dom Crady. That’s right. Tom Brady will have a terrible year. I have a few reasons. One is because, well, he’s 41. Most NFL players can barely make it past 35. My second reason is that the Madden Curse is REAL, people! If you wanna learn about it, look up a video on your phone or computer at home. There are so many videos (but you can’t access them with your Chromebook). Anyway, Tom Brady is the cover athlete. Cover athletes are terrible the next year. Tom Brady will be worse than last year by a lot. He will throw a career high in interceptions, while only throwing only 25 touchdowns. I feel the man who ‘is going to play until he’s 45’ (Tom Brady’s own words) will be forced to retire.

8. Some stars get injured and lose their ability to play as well as before. But, since some backups will take the place of the star, they will finally get the chances they always wanted and needed. I believe that that there will be 4 new players will get over 1,000 receiving yards, 3 new players will get over 1,250 rushing yards, and that 1 rookie will either get 1,100 receiving yards OR 1,250 rushing yards. Some teams are depending on their starters to make an impact, but the backups are coming. You’ve seen people like Kansas City Chiefs’ runningback Kareem Hunt, someone no one thought would get 100 yards, go off for over 200 yards rushing! This is the time of change.

7. Neither team from the Super Bowl last year will make it again. Sure, the Patriots have gotten better. But, going back to no. 9, the GOAT is going to have a bad year, and will make it to the AFC championship game at best.  And the Atlanta Falcons, well . . . And I know that on my list of top 10 teams for the season I put the Falcons and Patriots in the top 2 ( If you didn’t read that list, go ahead and read it). But they just don't look good enough to win the Super Bowl this year. Plus, the MADDEN CURSE.

6. Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will get regular season win number 115. This one doesn’t seem too out there, but some people would say the Steelers aren’t going to go 10-6 like I am predicting, if you do the math. They say they’ll go 8-8 or 9-7. Maybe even 7-9. I don’t agree with any of those claims. Mike Tomlin has the most talented crew to get it done with. He has future Hall of Fame player Ben Roethlisberger and the obviously gifted Antonio Brown. The defense isn’t great but can get the job done. He has won more games with worse teams, and the team has a lot of depth. Mike’s gonna prove the haters wrong and go 10-6 or BETTER.

5.This is the final one for part one of this list. I feel that one suprise team will make the playoffs. This team includes the quarterback who can’t slide for his life, an old man at safety, and the best kicker in the league. That’s right, I’m thinking the Baltimore Ravens will go tie the Steelers record and make the wildcard round. The team is looking amazing early on. They do got tougher competition ahead though. But the team with the underrated defense and the top 10 quarterback (when healthy) Joe Flacco will be a beast this year. Plus, I need kicker Justin Tucker to do well. If he doesn’t . . . well, let’s just say my fantasy team is in BIG trouble.

Thank you for reading this article! I know you probably wanted the entire list, but I need to think of more predictions. I hope you guys are ready for part two already, because it’s coming up on Wednesday! Have a great day and leave a like if you enjoyed.
