Canton Bound: Drew Brees by Noah Radio

It has been over three weeks since the New Orleans Saints were knocked out of the playoffs and there is still no word on Drew Brees possibly retiring. The Saints organization has made it clear that if he wants to continue his career, his job is safe. He has definitely earned that respect by leading the Saints to a Super Bowl, playing in 13 Pro Bowls, and leading the NFL in passing yards seven times. He is also widely regarded as the most accurate quarterback of all time. He was drafted with the first pick in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft to the then San Diego Chargers. After the 2005-06 season, Brees was traded to the Saints where he brought much better team and personal results.

Before being drafted, he began his career at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. Throughout his four years, he had a 64.1% completion percentage and threw for 5,461 yards and 50 touchdowns. In his senior year, he led his team to an undefeated season and a state championship. He also lettered in basketball and baseball. After his senior year, he headed off to Purdue and won the starting job in his sophomore year. Through those three years, he threw for 90 touchdowns and 11,792 yards. He had a 61.1% completion percentage. Brees also finished fourth in 1999 and third in 2000 for the Heisman Trophy. He continued to rack up accomplishments in the NFL, and with the end of his playing days coming fast, he has definitely had a storied career.
