The “White Out” is supposed to be one of the toughest games of the Penn State season, but the blowout in it was expected. So let’s recap what the game looked like and shine a light on some star players.
Penn State had a good game, shutting Iowa out, and only allowing 20 rushing yards, 56 passing yards, 76 total yards, and 4 turnovers. To be fair to the Iowa offense one of the turnovers was a muffed punt that hit off a back of their player. Penn State also had the 2nd largest attendance in history of Beaver Stadium making it extremely hard for the offense to call plays and hear the snap count. Penn State’s Curtis Jacobs was also the first Penn Stater to recover two fumbles in one game. The Penn State defense also did not allow one “red zone” appearance by Iowa. Now we have talked about the Penn State defense, now let’s talk about the Penn State offense.
The Penn State offense put up an impressive 31 points and destroyed the Iowa defense with 397 total yards. Penn State’s Drew Allar threw for 166 yards and 4 touchdowns against Iowa. They also had the backup Beau Pribula come into the game in the 4th quarter and threw for 16 yards. Kaytron Allen rushed for 72 yards, while Nick Singleton rushed 49. Penn State also had no turnovers during the game even though they muffed a punt. Penn State tight end Tyler Warren also caught two touchdown passes.
Penn State won the game very convincingly and very expectedly. Though Penn State does deserve a pat on the back for crushing their first decent opponent of the season, and who knows maybe they’ll be able to beat Michigan or Ohio State this year.
