In this article I will start the college football season off with who I think will end up in the top 25 at the end of the season, and I’ll also go over playoffs and what I think will happen there.
25. NC State is a pretty good team, but they have had some pretty devastating losses to some other ranked teams, but they don’t have another ranked team on their schedule so they’ll probably finish pretty well and maybe sneak into this last ranking spot.
24. Oregon State has been another decent team through history, but never will make some huge showings, and since they’re in a two team conference they’ll probably struggle to really get through to another tier of rankings or anything like that.
23. San Jose State is currently 2nd in the Mountain West and they already have a good win over Air Force who is not a bad team. Although they lost to Washington State, Washington State is a good looking team, so a loss to them isn’t terrible for San Jose State.
22. Boise State is looking really good right now with their only loss being to Oregon, and it was only by 3 points so they look really good, and they will probably be the team from the Grouper 5’s to get into the playoffs.
21. Louisville is a strong team and they don’t have a terrible schedule with 2 technically 3 if you count Notre Dame, but they are a pretty good team and with a really bad loss to Notre Dame
20. USC along with Notre Dame has been so overrated just like Notre Dame, and they really don’t even belong on this list but they’ll probably have one good win the rest of the season and the polling will probably be stuck on that, but they only have 2 ranked teams left on their schedule, which they'll probably lose to Penn State, lose to 1 or 2 unranked teams, but beat Notre Dame at the end of the year as Notre Dame hasn’t beat a ranked team besides from the start of the season (when poles are least accurate) since September 9th 2023.
19. Illinois is actually looking pretty good this year, but their only problem is their schedule, as Nebraska was ranked at the time they are not the same thing as the rest of their schedule, because they have Penn State, Michigan, and Oregon on their schedule.
18. South Carolina is a pretty strong looking team who currently has only one loss which was to LSU and they only lost by 3 points which is pretty good, and being in the SEC helps as it’s pretty much now the undisputed top conference in college football with 5 of the 10 top teams being in the SEC, and 4 out of 5 of the top teams still being in the SEC.
17. Oregon State is a strong looking team only losing to Oregon who is a team who is looking really good and has a very good ranking, but the PAC 12 is pretty much a dead conference so we’ll see where it goes in the next few years.
16. Kentucky had a really strong game against Georgia, but they do still have 2 losses as of right now, but they did lose to a strong looking South Carolina team, so they still look fine and will probably be ranked at the end of the season.
15. Notre Dame is highly overrated and after a loss to Northern Illinois is struggling a little but with a win over Louisville the CFB committee thinks that they are now a playoff contender.
14. Iowa State is a good looking team who I feel is always overlooked, like how Brock Purdy was an Iowa State QB, feel like Iowa State is a really good looking team standing at 4-0 and I feel with a win over Iowa, and although it was close they have some other good wins.
13. Penn State is as always looking good against the mediocres but the real contest will be when they play some good teams that will definitely be the problem, and people act like they’re guaranteed the playoffs with the 12 team playoff, but they seem to forget that Penn State finished 13 last year, and yes I think they’ll miss the playoff again.
12. LSU is looking a lot better this year and even though they lost to USC, the SEC will definitely help and USC will probably take a bad loss at some point, and LSU will take bad losses to these top SEC teams which will probably not affect their ranking all that much.
11. Clemson is actually looking really strong this year and they might make the playoffs if they keep playing the way they do, like how they beat NC State, and with their only loss being to Georgia they look really good.
10. Missouri has some not so flattering wins, but they are still finding a way to win just like TCU in 2022 and they really did build the team in like 2 years, and don’t forget last year they did beat Ohio State last year, so they might be better than expected.
9. Oklahoma is another strong looking SEC team who’s only lost to Tennessee at the time I’m making this article. Which, Tennessee is a super strong team who’s currently ranked 5 in the nation and they only lost by 10 points which isn’t bad against such a good offense.
8. Michigan is looking really strong also, and even though they lost to Texas who is currently the number one team in the country and they also have beaten a ranked USC team, who if I’m underrating a team on here it would be them.
7. Ole Miss is a team everyone overlooks but with their aggressive play style they have been having tons of success, and even though they lost to Kentucky I still think they are a super strong team, and against the worse teams they don’t have any close match ups like Penn State with Bowling Green.
6. Tennessee is looking really good this year, so I have no idea what happened last year, but they beat a strong Ole Miss team and they scored 65 points in the 1st half against Kent State
5. Ohio State is looking really good, but they haven’t played anyone good, but they will play Oregon in about a week so we’ll be able to find out then, but what I think will happen is they’ll beat Oregon in about a week, but Oregon will win in the conference championship.
4. Oregon and Michigan are the only teams in the BIg Ten that can beat Ohio State, and like I said earlier I think they’ll lose to Ohio State here, but beat Oregon in the Big Ten championship, because I think by then their defense will be more developed against good teams by then.
3. Texas is looking really good and their quarterback’s are killing it, but they have a decisive win over Michigan, but I think that they won’t be able to beat Alabama or Georgia with how they're playing.
2. Alabama, although they’ve beaten Georgia I don’t think they could do it again especially with how Georgia looked in their comeback, and how they had to intercept the ball in the endzone to clinch, with like a minute left and only up by 7 when they were winning by 28.
1. Georgia is looking really good this year, and even though Alabama beat them I don’t think Alabama could do it again, and I don’t think Texas could beat them either, so the moral of the story is Georgia is going to be Georgia and just almost always find a way to win, because if they didn’t go down by 28 to Alabama they probably would’ve won.
I think that this will be a great season of college football, but unfortunately it will probably be 3 SEC and 1 Big Ten team in the semis, or maybe even all SEC teams, but I think Georgia will win the championship and become national champions again.
