The NFL draft began on Thursday April 25th and there are some interesting storylines like the amount of quarterbacks that were predicted to go early. Below is a list of the draft picks we predicted and whether or not we got them correct as of press time.
1. The Chicago Bears have the number one overall pick after getting the pick from the Panthers last year in a trade. It seems like they will take the quarterback from USC in Caleb Williams. He won the heisman in college and was a superstar. The Bears are also in need of a quarterback since they traded Justin Fields. (CORRECT)
2. Washington Commanders have the number two overall pick after they went 4-13 last season. My prediction is that Heisman Winner Jaden Daniels from LSU will be selected with the number two overall pick. Washington desperately needs a quarterback after trading Sam Howell to the Seahawks early in the offseason. He fits in with the heavy run offense and will thrive in this environment. (CORRECT)
3. The New England Patriots have the 3rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. The Patriots without a doubt need a quarterback. My estimation is the patriots will pick J.J McCarthy a NCAA champion quarterback out of Michigan. (INCORRECT. Drake Maye from UNC was picked #3 overall by the Pats)
4. The Arizona Cardinals have the fourth pick after a pretty bad season in 2023. I predict that they will take the superstar receiver from Ohio State Marvin Harrison Jr. Penn State fans know all too well about him as he dominated them in the times that they faced off. (CORRECT)
5. The Los Angeles Chargers have the number five pick after a very underwhelming season. I predict that they trade the pick to the Vikings and they pick Drake Maye, the outstanding sophomore from UNC. The Vikings need a fresh start at QB after Kirk Cousins signed with Atlanta. (INCORRECT. The Chargers did not trade. They selected offensive lineman Joe Alt from Notre Dame. The Vikings wound up picking JJ McCarthy of Michigan)
6. The Giants have the 6th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft and I think that they will pick Rome Odunze, a wide receiver out of Washington, the 2024 NCAA championship runner up. The Giants do definitely need a good wide receiver and he has a chance to really make some noise with the Giants. (INCORRECT. The Giants selected Malik Nabers, WR from LSU).
7. The Tennessee Titans have the 7th pick in this year's draft. They were decent in the regular season but ended up finishing as one of the worst teams in the league. I predict that they will take the defensive tackle from Texas, Byron Murphy the second, he will be the first defensive player taken and rightfully so he will be a great addition for the Titans. (INCORRECT. Tennessee selected JC Latham, OL from Alabama).
8. The Atlanta Falcons have the eighth pick in this year's draft. I believe they will select Brock Bowers as a tight end from Georgia. He fits perfectly with Kirk Cousins throwing him the rock and he gets to stay in the great state of Georgia. (INCORRECT. QB Michael Penix Jr. from the University of Washington was picked by the Falcons. Brock Bowers did go soon after at #13 to the Las Vegas Raiders)
9. The Bears have the ninth pick and I think they will pick a dynamic wide receiver out of LSU Malik Nabers. He is an excellent player and the only reason I have him behind Rome Odunze is because he was with a Heisman quarterback in LSU, so who knows how well he could do without one? (INCORRECT. The Bears did select an WR…Rome Odunze from University of Washington).
10. The New York Jets will pick tenth this year after having a disappointing 2023 season. I think the Jets will take Taliese Fuaga from Oregon State to get some blocking for Aaron Rodgers. He is a great offensive lineman and his skills should translate to the NFL. (INCORRECT. But, the Jets did pick an OL. Penn State’s Olu Fashanu)
