#9 Penn State takes on #19 Illinois by Marshall Laskowski and Harrison Meyer

September 27, 2024

Penn State will take on Illinois this weekend in what is being called an unofficial whiteout. This will be the hardest game so far this season but they will have the advantage of being the home team. According to the AP poll, Penn State comes into the game ranked ninth in the nation. Illinois is ranked nineteenth in the country and just beat Nebraska last week. This is one of the biggest games of the weekend and it will be in primetime at 7:30 p.m.

These are our score predictions.

Marshall: 35-21 Penn State

Harrison: 30-16 Penn State.

Penn State is led by star quarterback Drew Allar who made some great throws last week against Kent State. Tyler Warren also had a great game last week and he should look to ride that momentum into this week's game. In his college career, Nicholas Singleton has had 752 rushing yards on 171 rushing attempts he also has 8 rushing touchdowns on his career. One of the Nittany Lions’ best wide receivers is Liam Clifford who is the brother of the former quarterback Sean Clifford. Clifford has had some solid games this year and will be a big factor in this week's game.

Quarterback Luke Altmyer leads Illinois, last year he threw four interceptions against us but has matured and gotten a lot better through the past year. Kaden Feaglan is the other Illinois star running back, he played 9 games last year and had 438 rushing yards on 95 rushes, 2 touchdowns, and 9 receptions. Pat Bryant is the star wide receiver on Illinois’ squad. He started 9 games last year, and had 560 yards with 43 receptions and 13 yards per reception. If Penn State wants to win this game, they will need to contain these two stars. Illinois also has a good quarterback in Luke Altmyer, last year he threw 4 interceptions against Penn State, but has matured and gotten a lot better through the past year.
