Most Popular Candies by Katie Kennedy-Phillips

It’s a fair assumption that everyone at least sometime in their life has liked candy, whether it be chocolates or gummies. I personally am a gummies fan, but chocolate is really good, too. I was curious on what the most searched candies are on the web, so I went onto Google and searched for the most popular. Here’s what I found:

1. Snickers

Who doesn’t love Snickers? They are one of the most delicious chocolate bars out there. Fun fact: the chocolate bar was actually named after the inventor’s family horse, Snickers.

2. Twix

Twix are amazing.  An interesting fact about Twix is that the word Twix is actually a mix of the words “twin bix”. “Bix” is a shortened version of biscuit in British.

3. Butterfingers

These classics are a big favorite anywhere you go. A fact is that most places in Germany don’t sell Butterfingers because it was found to have GMO (genetically modified organism) in it. It would be really hard to find it in Germany.

4. Skittles

Skittles are everywhere. In New York City, I got to see a Skittles store, and it was so colorful. A cool fact about Skittles is that in the UK and Sweden the purple colored Skittles are flavored black currant, not grape, like they are here in the US.

5. Starburst

My favorite kind is the Lemon and then the Pineapple. They just taste so good, especially for a fruit candy. Starburst were actually called Opal Fruits in the UK and Ireland before it got changed to Starburst in 1998.

6. Kit Kats

I love the taste of the sweet waffle and the chocolate together. They are probably my most favorite chocolates. In Asia, stores actually have Grape, Peach, Green Apple, Green Tea, Wasabi and many more flavored Kit Kats. Also the name Kit Kat goes all the way back into the 1700’s when people would make this mutton pie at a local London club.
