School’s almost out! We have about 30 more days until we will be able to sleep in and play outside all day. And since we are on the topic of summer, why not talk about great places to go during summer vacation? Here are my top four favorite places to go during the summer:
#1. The pool
It’s always nice to be able to cool down during hot summer days. I’m not much of a pool fan myself, but it sure is nice to be able to relax in cold water as the sun shines on you. I would most likely want to get a pool that I can have in my backyard instead of going to public pools. While it feels great being the only one in a pool, your family might want to join in as well. Public pools are a cool place to meet your friends during the summer. They also have great snacks and water slides.
#2. Chicago
I have been taking vacations to Chicago my entire life because family lives there. If your family is looking for a great road trip (11-hour drive) and a vacation into a city, I totally suggest Chicago. In Chicago you can visit Willis (Ceres) Tower and can walk along Lake Michigan. The hotels are also really nice. At night you see lights everywhere; they light the city and it is such a sight to see. You can go visit Cloud Gate (the Bean), or Millennium Park. It’s such a great place to experience the city.
#3. Your Backyard
If your family is planning to go nowhere for the summer, that's okay! Your backyard can be anything you want it to be. You are able to use your imagination to do anything. That might sound cheesy, but it is true. You also don’t just have to use your imagination. Your backyard can be an amazing place to have friends over, have a barbecue, or even roast marshmallows! There is something for everyone right outside your house. I personally love hanging around the campfire at night while eating dinner.
#4. New York City
Why not go to New York for a weekend? It’s only 4 hours away. You can go adventure the streets and see everybody hustling around getting from place to place. You can go visit Central Park and see all the wildlife. I have only been there in the winter, so I haven’t gotten to see all the beautiful fountains and flowers that are there during the summer. You and your family can go to tons of historical museums and see history through paintings and artifacts. And if you love candy, why not visit Dylan's Candy Bar?
Those four places are my favorite places to visit (or to think about visiting) during the summer and it’s always so refreshing to go to them. If you want even more places to go check out this list: https://travel.usnews.com/rankings/best-summer-vacations-in-the-usa/
