One Man by Linden Dolezal

One man

That’s how all of this madness started

It started thanks to one man

And now husbands, sons, and fathers alike

Fight; and die upon these sands

Thanks to one man, millions are dead

Thanks to one man, the World Trade Center is destroyed,

never to be rebuilt

Thanks to one man, some may never have a true home again

Some may have permanent scars; reminders of that horrible day

Some, like us, may never return home at all

The battle rages around me

Sand flying up everywhere

We are fighting in the street

Of an ordinary neighborhood

I can see the residents fleeing over the hills

Away from all this madness-

A bullet hits me in the chest

I am thrown to the ground,

my head connecting painfully with the sands

Blood drips down my chest,

more on my face,

as I gasp heavily

I still can’t believe that this all happened

because of

one man

A man who is already dead!

A man who has been destroyed;

yet the battle still rages

In front of me

and in the minds of others

I look around,

At my military family

At the brothers, fathers, and sons

Who will never be the same

I am fighting for breath now,

The pain in my chest getting worse

I squeeze my eyes shut,

thinking of the

one man

who is responsible for this

I can almost picture his face in my mind

The reason that my family has lost a brother, a father, and a son

The cause of all this death

The man who started this bloody war

The man who caused 9/11

Osama Bin Laden
