Destiny is a new game that came out September 9th 2014, and has been anticipated for years on forums, trailers, and YouTube. There are several reasons this game was very anticipated. First the makers on the game, are the people that created the Call of Duty and Halo franchises. These groups (both Call of Duty and Halo ) were the best selling game series in history. Call of Duty features a high detailed first person shooter game, with amazing campaigns. Halo is an open world alien fighting game, where you are the hero Master Chief, and you venture to new worlds to try to stop the aliens rule.
Now comes Destiny. Destiny is a spacey, first-person shooter game where your goal is kill aliens, and stop the incoming warships. Just like Halo, Destiny is an open world/planet game where you venture into the wilderness of future worlds. Now this might seem like the most amazing game ever, however this game was the most criticized game of 2014. Now lets see why.
Ever since the makers of the game announced its release date and a trailer, forums and Reddit exploded. The trailer released showed a bunch of cool things never before seen in other space games. However, shortly before it got released the creator of Halo left destiny. When the game finally came out the public didn’t think that much about the game. The storyline was very repetitive, and frankly, not that many people liked it.
I have just finished the game last weekend and I would have to say I agree with them. At the very beginning the game was supposed to have more characters, more evil and deep plot. Also the game would’ve had many more planets. However with more things, comes a higher age rating. Destiny’s goal was to have a ‘T’ rated game. However like most first-person shooter games, it soon became a ‘M’ rated game. So since they wanted to approve to a younger age group, the took away 3/4 of the storyline. What was left was a game where you go from point A to point B and shoot aliens and maybe a boss along the way. This might be entertaining to a 10 year old. However a 14 year old like me is very disappointing. So overall the game is actually okay, however it’s not worth the $60 game price. If the game was what it was supposed to be, it would be worth it. However, sadly, it isn’t.
