If you’ve read it or not you probably know of the book To KIll A Mockingbird. It’s a book that everyone seems to read at some point in their life. In English class we are currently reading it and I’m here to give you my first impression on my thoughts about the book.
When I began to read the first chapter I started to get worried it would be an over-hyped book that wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Once I got deeper into the book I soon realized that it really is what it’s cracked up to be. The development of the plot is amazing in the sense that time goes by quickly in the book but at the same time you feel like you are right there with the characters. I feel like I can watch Scout’s perspective on things change as time goes by and as more things unravel in her life. Having a child’s perspective on the events that happen in the plot I think is really smart because its like raw thoughts that haven’t really been affected by the outside world yet.
Reading this book is like taking a look into the past and what a situation such as this one might end up being like. It’s really eye opening to see how racist and set in their ways some people used to be and how any white person’s thoughts or opinions overtook someone who was colored no matter who was right or wrong. I am excited to finish the book and find out the result of the trial and how the town of Maycomb will react to the outcome.
