JROTC is a program for high school students starting in 9th grade. In JROTC you learn to become an officer in the military. When you join JROTC, you are in a leadership development program. JROTC is for all armed forces branches: Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, and even the Coast Guard. You learn to be a better leader, you learn morals that are very important, and you become stronger physically and mentally.
If you want to go into law enforcement or the military, this is a great program to be in since you get to learn many amazing things, and get to do amazing things that other people probably don’t have the chance to do. Wearing a military uniform may inspire pride, loyalty and bravery towards the U.S.
Lucky for students here in the State College area, we get the chance to experience ROTC not just only the high school, but also with Penn State University. JROTC does not require you to go into the military, you may do that on your own choice. But if you join ROTC in college and complete the program, you are held responsible to serve our country. So, think wisely about the choice for college, and try JROTC to see if you want to continue and go into ROTC.
