ICC World Cup Semi-Finals by Haskel Canagarajah

Results of Quarterfinals:

South Africa 134/1    Sri Lanka 133/10

India 302/6                 Bangladesh 193/10

Australia 216/4          Pakistan 213/10

New Zealand 393/6     West Indies 250/10

South Africa beat Sri Lanka very easily, coasting to an easy 9 wicket victory. Sri Lanka played a horrible game and they put an oddly low number on the score sheet for runs.

India was expected to win this game and they easily did, not much of a contest in this one. Bangladesh, I think, could have put more runs on the board, but they still probably wouldn’t have hit 303.

Australia played good defense and capitalized on Pakistan’s weaknesses in this game, and that ultimately led them to win this game, along with the home crowd. If Pakistan could have gotten more wickets, the game would be closer.

New Zealand wrecked the West Indies in this game, beating them by 143 runs. The West Indies haven’t had a good batting team overall, and that played a big part in them not winning the game.

Semifinals preview:

New Zealand vs South Africa

Both teams ran over their opponents in their quarterfinals matchups. Both teams are also very good all-around teams (Best of both Offense and Defense). South Africa is good, but New Zealand is better, New Zealand wins and gets a berth in the finals.

India vs Australia:

India is the best team in the tournament without a doubt, but Australia could really give them a run for their money in the matchup. The Aussies have played very well and if they can stop virat Kohli and some of India’s best players they will win this match. However, the chances of that happening are very low, New Zealand vs India in the finale.
