Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians Battle in ALCS by Dylan Maddox

The Cleveland Indians won the third game of the ALCS 4-2 against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Indians now lead the series 3-0 and if they win this next game the Indians will make it the World Series for the first time since 1997— a loss to the Florida Marlins. In yesterday's game Mike Napoli of the Indians doubled with a runner on second to get a run in the first inning to make it 1-0. In the bottom of the second Michael Saunders of the Blue Jays hit a solo homer to tie the game. But then, in the top of the 4th, Napoli helped his team out even more with hitting a solo homer to take the lead 2-1. In the bottom of the fifth Ryan Goins grounded out but Ezequiel Carrera scored to tie the game again. Then in the sixth the Indians rallied one more time to score to runs as Jason Kipnis hit a solo home run and then Jose Ramirez later in the inning hit Napoli in to make it 4-2 Indians. After that it was lights out pitching by the Indians to make it 3-0 in the series.

Editor’s Note: At press time the Blue Jays rallied to win Game 4 of the ALCS to keep their World Series hopes alive. Blue Jays’ third baseman sparked the Jays with a key homerun and excellent defense in the field to support the pitching of starter Aaron Sanchez. Game 5 is today (October 19th) in Toronto.
