The Best, Worst, and the Surprises of the Premier League so far (as of May 21st) by Stella Loverich

June 5, 2023

The Premier League is the English soccer professional league. You can watch highlights, full games, and interviews on Peacock or Youtube. Here is an overview of the best, the worst, and the surprises of the premier league. Here are the Premier League Standings if you would like to learn more.

The Surprises: First of all, Newcastle. Last season, they placed 11th in the league, so it’s a surprise that they are now in 3rd place. With Kieran Trippier (some say he’s the best defender in the world and is known for his free kicks) and Joelinton, they are on their way to finish in a top 5 position.

The Best: Manchester City is first in the league right now, and I can’t say I’m surprised. With powerhouse forward Haaland, and midfielders Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne with his amazing assists, they are in for a season of wins.

The Worst: Southampton is last place right now and will likely get relegated, which is kind of a surprise since in the past years they have finished 15th. They have become a feeding pool for the best teams, selling many of their best players. Examples of this are Virgil van Dijk, Mane, and Bale.
