Russell Wilson - New Steelers Quarterback by Quinn Cunningham

March 14, 2024

The Pittsburgh Steelers have added Russell Wilson on their roster in the 2024 offseason. The Stellers were in need of a fresh start at quarterback. Kenny Pickett started the 2023 - 2024 season until he got hurt, then they went to Mitch Trubisky who had no answer for them playing awful. They then benched Trubisky then went with their third-string quarterback Mason Rudolph, who rallied the Steelers  to a 10-7 season and a playoff berth.  The Steelers made the playoffs but lost to the Bills in the first round. Rudolph has since signed with the Tennessee Titans.

After all of that,  Russell Wilson is now in competition with Kenny Pickett for the Steelers starting quarterback position.  Wilson was a great quarterback with the Seahawks for about eight years, even leading the Seahawks to a Super Bowl win. Russell had a better season last year, leading the Broncos to a 8-9 season with a 66.4% completion rate.  He passed for 3,070 yards, with 26 touchdown passes, 8 INT's,  and a quarterback rating or QBR of 98.0.

There is no doubt that Mike Tomlin can turn Russell Wilson around from a spiral he's been having ever since he left the Seahawks for the Broncos. Russell is also with Arthur Smith, the Falcons Former head coach who is the Steelers new offensive coordinator. Overall Russell is a good addition to the Steelers roster and has a chance to make their star offense with George Pickens and the two-star running backs Najee Harris and Tyler Warren.
