Did the 12 Team College Football Playoff Actually Work? By: Grant Potoczny

February 21, 2025

College football fans were complaining about how the 12 team playoff didn’t seem to work, but even though it might not have gone as intended, it might have worked out.

The four team playoff always had some noncompetitive games and it was always expected, but the 12 team playoff got those games out of the way early. Now you could say that the national championship was noncompetitive, but nowhere near as noncompetitive in past years. Now there could definitely be some changes made such as the seeding for the playoffs, because although it might not be as fun to watch, you have to be fair to the teams as well.

Those were just some thoughts on this year’s playoffs and I’m interested to see if it changes or not somewhere in the near future.
