Penn State started off the year with a 12-1 record but had fallen to 14-13, and they have lost six games by five points or less. Penn State has really struggled being consistent this year. Some games they have shot well, like Wednesday night (February 19th) and some games they have shot horrid with poor ball movement and their inability to hang onto big 10 to 15 point leads.
Despite their losing streak, struggles, and inconsistency, they have had some bright sides to their season. One was upsetting Number 13 in the country, Purdue. Another bright side to their season was Wednesday night against Nebraska, as they took Nebraska down by a score of 89-72. Penn State shot 60.7% (34-56) from the field. Zach Hicks and Yanic Konan Niederhauser both lead the scoring with 19 points apiece. D’Marco Dunn also added 17 points for the Nittany Lions. This game was the best shooting performance by percentage by a Nittany Lions basketball team in 18 years.
