Guys, I’m excited for this article. I haven’t written about PFMS sports teams all year, but now I have. I was allowed on the sideline to get you guys this article on this fierce rivalry between undefeated Park Forest vs Mount Nittany. I hope that you came to the game to see us play!
With 15 minutes left until showtime, the team looked ready to crush Mount Nittany. But, could they translate this to the field?
Now, you guys already know the final score (46-26 in favor of Park Forest), but I felt this game was going to be a thriller. It was the biggest rivalry game of the year for Park Forest as they hung onto the hopes of a perfect season. Meanwhile, Mount Nittany was attempting to humiliate them.
Let’s start with the first quarter. After a great kickoff return out to around midfield, Ryan Domico shredded the defense and broke off a huge run for a TD. This was the highlight of the 1st quarter, which concluded with Park Forest leading 24-6. In the second quarter, Mount Nittany was driving down the field. From the 2 yard line, John King (2) ran it in for a 2-yard touchdown. They didn’t get the 2-point conversion, leaving the score 24-12 in favor of Park Forest. After a what seemed to be loss of momentum, Park Forest ran the ball back for a touchdown on the kickoff. Mount Nittany answered back with a kickoff return of their own leaving the score at 30-20 Park Forest.
At the beginning of the final quarter, the first touchdown of the half for Mount Nittany was in sight as 1st and goal was here. After Park Forest held them to 4th down, Number 31 Dylan Davis got his 2nd interception of the year, solidifying the win at the start of the 4th. Park Forest won 46-26.
Ryan Domico, who had 221 yards and 4 touchdowns said, “I am thankful for my line, my speed, my family, my training, and lifting with my brother.” His brother is a huge inspiration to him and hypes him up before games. When asked about how he felt at halftime, he answered with a quote I feel all football players should follow: “It’s (the score) always 0-0 in your mind.”
When I asked Coach Ammerman about the first play with Ryan Domico, he said, “I was just happy for him and all the guys, there was such a build up to this game.”
Park Forest has improved their record to 8-0-1. The unsung hero of this game was Dylan Davis with the interception at the 2-yard line to seal the game.
