Movies I am Most Excited For in 2021 - 2022 by Cooper Zettlemoyer

With movie theaters opening up and Covid slowing down, it's a good time to watch movies in the theater again. And luckily, in the next year there are a lot of movies coming out that I am excited about, so I thought I would share some of them.

1.  Spider-Man : No Way Home (2021)

This is a film I have been excited for since the cliffhanger ending of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which was released in July of 2019. And when the first trailer came out a few weeks ago, I became even more excited, especially with the appearance of a specific character at the end of the trailer (which I will not spoil here).

2.  The Batman (2022)

This is a film I have been excited for since the first trailer came out in 2020. I like how it looks like a dark and realistic approach to the Batman mythos. I also like how the Riddler is the main villain, a villain that I think is underrated. Also, it seems to be a murder mystery story and focuses more on the detective side of Batman which is largely ignored in Batman movies.

3. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

There isn't a lot of information on this movie online. But it has been stated that this film is directly connected to Spider-Man : No Way Home and that it will focus on the Multiverse. Also, it will be more of a horror film, which I think is an interesting idea for the MCU because it has been more  family friendly up to this point. Also the movie is being directed by Sam Raimi who directed the Spider-Man trilogy which came out from 2002-2007. Those were movies I watched a lot when I was younger, so I am excited to see Sam Raimi direct  another superhero movie.

4. Uncharted (2022)

This movie takes place in the same universe as the Uncharted video game franchise, which is one of my favorite video game franchises of all time. This film is a prequel to the video games. There isn't much information online about what the plot is about except that it involves treasure hunting, which makes sense because that's what the entire series is about.

5. Moribus (2022)

This movie is based on the Spider-Man villain named Moribus, and that's all I can say really. Honestly, the only reason I am excited for this is because The Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming appeared at the end of one of the trailers, which means that this film is somehow connected to the MCU. And also I really liked The Vulture so I am excited to see him.

6. The Flash (2022)

Honestly, I had not been excited for this movie for a long time; however a trailer recently came out for this film.  Most of the stuff in the trailer doesn't look interesting, in my opinion, except at the end of the trailer, where Michael Keaton's Batman is shown.  This Batman hasn't appeared in film since the 1990s and also isn’t part of the same universe as The Flash, which means that The Flash is going to be a multiverse movie and most likely based on the Flashpoint paradox storyline, which is a pretty good storyline from what I've heard. This is something that has been rumored for a long time, and I’m pretty sure was confirmed by Michael Keaton, but it's nice to see actual footage of it. So I think that if the movie is based on a good comic storyline, then the movie might have a chance of being good.

Netflix Shows To Watch (for 11-12 year old girls) by Samantha Lozinski

Alexa and Katie

This is a tv series that will be your go to watch. It has four parts/seasons.(It’s rated TV-G.) This tv series is about Alexa and her best friend Katie. Alexa has cancer and tries to hide it. But when something happens to her hair, Katie is there for her, by being right by her side. You will see big moments and small moments, as Alexa and Katie navigate their way through high school. You will also see all of their first days of school. Also see their brothers. Best part? If you like the first part, you still have three more parts worth of Alexa and Katie.

The Baby-Sitters Club

This is also a series (That is rated TV-G). You might know that there are chapter books (a ton), graphic novels, and I think that there’s even a movie.  The series is based off of the books. The first season came out July 3rd, 2020. It’s about Kristy and her friends who start a babysitting club, and picks up some new members on the way through the first season. The idea came to Kristy when her mom can’t find a babysitter when she needs one, not wanting to interrupt Kristy's plan with one of the other characters, Mary Anne. I would like to just say that there's maybe a little bit of a mature subject in “Kristy's big day”, but eleven and up is still a good age to watch it. There is also just a little thing about transgender in “Mary Anne saves the day.” Also, if you liked the first part, then you will be thrilled to hear that a second part recently came out!

No Good Nick

When Nick shows up at the front door of a family's house, they are confused, but let her come in and sort out the mixup about why she is here. But, is that why she’s really here, or is she there for something else, such as payback? (Cue the suspenseful music). ( This is a tv series rated TV-PG.) There’s a character named “Molly” in the show, and she’s welcoming, but “Jermy”, the brother of Molly, is not so sure about her, and will try basically anything to find more stuff out about her. This show is a little different from the other two, because it does have some language.  But if you want something different from the other two, give this a shot.

"Venom: Let There Be Carnage" Movie Review by Rasik Cruden

BEWARE: SPOILERS INCOMING!

I just saw Venom: Let There Carnage a few days ago, and here are my thoughts on it.

First, I have to say I enjoyed this movie. It was funny, action packed, and had a good story, and here are some of my favorite parts.

In this movie, the relationship between Venom (an alien symbiote, which means the alien acts as a parasite on its host) and Eddie (the host for Venom’s parasite) is very funny, and they are kind of like an old married couple that argues all the time. The humor in this movie was very funny and made me laugh a lot.

Now let's talk about the characters. Detective Mulligan was a good character and his backstory with Shriek was good and I am excited to see him return in the future. In the comics, he becomes Toxin who is a symbiote like Venom, so I am excited to see if he comes back as him in future movies about Venom. I also really enjoyed Carnage in this movie. His voice was menacing and he was a legitimate scary villain. I just wish he had more screen time and didn’t die in this movie, because I wanted to see him more. However, I still enjoyed his performance, short as it was. Another new character in this movie was Shriek. Other than her backstory with Carnage/Cletus Kassidy, I didn’t really like her character in this movie. She seemed forced and rushed and didn’t even survive. I loved Venom in this movie. He was hilarious and really cool. Also I liked Eddie, but I think Venom stole the show.

Let’s talk about some pros of the film. First, the comedy was hilarious, and the characters were good. The action in this movie also delivered well. The final battle was really good and showed how powerful Carnage was, but unfortunately he lost and was killed by Venom. And what an epic post credit scene!  In it, we saw Venom and Eddie in a hotel watching a cheesy movie. Then they start talking about how symbiotes have so much knowledge and how Venom would share a fraction of what he knows. He tries giving Eddie some knowledge, but then the room shakes, and on the television we hear J. Jonah Jameson from the MCU’s Daily Bugle news program. After Eddie turns into Venom, he sees video footage of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man! We then see Venom lick the screen and say, “That guy.” This is huge because Venom and Spider-Man are in two different universes, but now they are in the same one!

A big con in this movie was definitely the runtime. This movie was only 90 minutes, which I don’t think was good because they rushed the story and action which I didn’t really like. As I mentioned earlier, I didn’t like Shriek in this movie. She felt rushed and I was not really given a reason to care for her other than she was Carnage’s love interest.

I really enjoyed this movie overall. It was solid, it could've been longer and had some character changes, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.  Overall, I rate this as a 8/10.  I’m excited to see what’s next for Venom!

Futuristic Movies - How We Didn’t Live Up To Their Expectations  by Ella Roberg

Futuristic movies - what a strange and interesting topic. We all know that the vision that Back to the Future Part II had ended up nowhere close to what 2015 actually looked like, but that Moon Zero 2 was closer. (Thank you, Elliot Mathews!) But what about all those other movies that make the future seem so much brighter?  Here is a list of movies that mostly predicted their futures correctly.

2001, A Space Odyssey  (Released 1968)

Stanley Kubrick didn’t manage a perfect prediction of the future. This movie, set in 2001, is the oldest movie that we didn’t match by 2001. Stanley did, however, correctly predict that we would have intelligent computers.

2012 (2009)

Roland Emmerich didn’t get the year right, but he was ahead of his time when he concluded that we would have a global catastrophe related to climate change. He also told the same story in The Day After Tomorrow.

Back to the Future Part II (1989)

If scientists hadn’t tried to give us hoverboards by 2015, then I'm sure we would be calling the two-wheeled “hoverboard” a “horizontal skateboard”. We are somewhat close to flying cars and virtual reality movies, but we’re in 2021, not 2015. Director Robert Zemeckis just got the date completely wrong.

These are just a few of the many futuristic movies that gave us way too little wiggle room for research to see if they are even possible. Ask your parents or guardians before you watch futuristic movies because a lot of them are rated PG-13 or R, though the ones I listed above are either PG or PG-13.

Why Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (PS5) Will Be a Hit by Rasik Cruden

With the highly awaited Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4) sequel’s trailer coming out, there are things in the trailer that show the game is going to  be a great sequel to its highly praised predecessor. Here’s why I think it will be a success.

First, the new highly awaited characters. Characters like Kraven The Hunter and Venom have been heard and seen in the new trailer, and these villains are big for the game because people have been awaiting Venom since the last game.  And Kraven is a face we haven’t seen since 2014 in a Spider-Man video game, and adding a new, refreshing, and great villain will be great for the video game and will be very entertaining.

Also a feature that might be integrated into the game is co-op, where you can play as Miles Morales and Peter Parker as teammates with other people, which will also be refreshing and new. This also might come with some new co-op gameplay as shown in the trailer with new team finishers, moves, or maybe even team boss fights. One thing that was praised in the original game was the gameplay and the swinging, so if they keep that the same from the first game, they should be ok going into the second game.

Also I think this game will have a good story. In the last game, the story was phenomenal and it left some space for the sequel to fill in for the story, and I am excited to see what they add and how they continue the story. I am also open and excited to new things like new villains, side missions, gadgets, and gameplay.

Overall, I honestly think this game will do well. If they keep up all the good things that made the first game good with some twists and add some new refreshing things (which they are), and if they add some things to the already great story to make it a perfect story, then I think this game could possibly even be Game Of The Year in 2023.

Moon Zero Two: A Look Back by Elliott Mathews

On May 1, I was on Amazon Prime searching up a movie to watch that night. And I forget exactly how, but this B-movie called Moon Zero Two from 1969 came up in the list of search results. When I saw in the movie description that it took place in the year 2021, I knew I had to watch it.

About fifteen minutes into the movie, the viewer sees a date-and-time sign that says MAY 9 2021 hanging in the spaceport on the moon. This is legitimately one of the craziest coincidences of my life. Immediately, I knew that Moon Zero Two had to be commemorated. What else can you do when you watch a science fiction movie just 8 days before it’s supposed to take place? So I thought it would be cool if I compared the futuristic visions of this 52-year-old movie with the actual technology of today.

MOON COLONY: Not yet

The plot of Moon Zero Two revolves around the unimaginatively named Moon City, a city on the moon. Moon City consists of a bunch of colorful bubbles built into the side of a cliff on the Moon. In the year 2021, we haven’t launched a moon colony yet. In fact, we’re closer to getting a colony on Mars than on the Moon. So we haven’t lived up to this expectation of Moon Zero Two.

SPACE TOURISM: In progress

Many of the people on Moon City are tourists. Despite the fact that we don’t yet have a moon colony to attract tourist revenue, the people of 2021 are still interested in visiting outer space. Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket company is planning to launch its first interstellar sightseeing trip on July 20, and for just $200,000 a tourist.

ARTIFICIAL GRAVITY: Nowhere close

Artificial gravity is a big part of the folks on Moon City’s lives. There’s artificial gravity in the spaceships, moon buggies (or “bugs,” as they are referred to in the movie), and even in the bars. Notably, there’s a scene in which the gravity in aforementioned bar is turned off, and everyone has a fistfight while floating around. In the real year 2021, we still haven’t launched any human-carrying projectile into outer space with any semblance of gravity.

MOON LANDERS: Definitely yes

In fact, the moon landers in Moon Zero Two look even older than the Eagle module used in the famous Apollo 11 moon mission, which took place the same year the movie was released. Take one look at a SpaceX capsule, and you’ll know that the folks in 2021 have surpassed that.

So, it’s hard to tell whether Moon Zero Two was an accurate prediction of 2021. On the one hand, we’ve far surpassed the movie with our moon landers; on the other hand, we still haven’t come up to scratch with artificial gravity, space tourism, moon colonies, and pretty much everything else in the movie. But although we’ve come up short of many aspects of Moon Zero Two, there is one aspect that we will never surpass nor fall behind on: crime. (Watch the movie and you’ll get what I’m saying.)

But also: Happy Moon Zero Two Day! The holiday lasts 3 days, in honor of the time span of the movie, so just have a good time! And maybe, if you can, have an antigravity fistfight!

They Wasted $125 Million on This Movie by Elliott Mathews

If you’ve been to the movies in the past year or so, you’ve maybe seen a trailer for the new “Artemis Fowl” movie. It’s based off of Eoin Colfer’s hit book series of the same name. However, you probably haven’t seen the actual movie. The theater release date was rescheduled twice, and then it was released on Disney+ on June 12, 2020. But I’m getting a little bit sidetracked here. The point is that they wasted $125 million on “Artemis Fowl,” a movie that got 8% on Rotten Tomatoes and severely disappointed me after 1 ½ years of waiting for it to come out. Let’s get into why it’s so bad.

The whole movie is presented to us as a story told by a guy in jail, whose name is Mulch Diggums (played by Josh Gad). It starts off okay. They introduce the main character, Artemis Fowl (Ferdia Shaw), and set up his relationships with his dad (Colin Farrell) and his bodyguard, Butler (Nonso Anozie). Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Artemis Fowl is a twelve-year-old criminal mastermind. After this, it gets funky. Artemis’s dad is captured by an evil villain who isn’t supposed to show up until the second book in the original book series, and Artemis learns about a race of fairies that lives underground with a bunch of super advanced technology. He and Butler successfully capture a fairy, whose name is Holly Short (Lara McDonnell), but an enormous fairy military unit comes to recapture her. Then there’s an enormous battle between the fairies and the Fowls. At this point, the special effects really start to kick in. Some notable special effects moments are when a guy in a boat gets frozen in time, when Butler shoots a fairy crossbow, and when Artemis, Butler, and Holly get stuck in some kind of time-rift thingy. There are also a bunch of scenes with time-lapses, mostly with fairies moving unnaturally fast for no reason. At the end, Artemis Fowl uses a weird fairy magic device to get his dad back, breaks Mulch Diggums (who’s actually a fairy) out of jail, and flies off in a helicopter to stop his dad’s kidnapper. So, after 115 minutes, a fortune’s worth of SFX, an unnecessary scene involving a chandelier and a monster the size of a large grizzly bear, too many Irish accents, and several disjointed shots of Josh Gad eating dirt and ripping apart a staircase for absolutely no reason, you’re left thinking… whaaaaaa?

I still haven’t satisfactorily explained why the movie is so horrible. The movie is nothing like the book. It’s like the people who made the movie were going to make it exactly like the book, but halfway through the filming, they decided that that was too hard and made up their own plot. Also, it seems like whenever the movie producers couldn’t think of a way to keep the movie going, they would just put in some useless special effects sequence (such as digitally enhancing Josh Gad’s jaw). The main character learns nothing throughout the movie, despite a meaningful conversation with his psychiatrist in which Artemis rants about how fake the psychiatrist’s chair is. Then there’s a paradox involving the possible sequel to this lump of cinematic dung. The ending is really setting the movie up for a sequel, but if there was a sequel, the ending of the first movie would make it impossible to start the second one. Long story short, if they make a sequel, don’t watch it. Also, don’t watch the first movie either.

But you can read the book series. It is really good.

Uncharted 4: Game Summary and Review by Rasik Cruden

Spoilers (Obviously!)

Overview:

The game starts with Nathan in a boat crash in a flashback then jump cuts to the present. Nathan is working as a diver and left his treasure hunting career behind. He then finds his brother Sam, and then you go into a flashback.  This flashback takes place when Nate is a kid. He is in a charter school with Sam and they escape. Sam and Rafe, (a new character) convince Nathan to help them find Henry Avery’s treasure. Nate first goes to an auction house with Sully and Sam to win a treasure, and then they get in a fight and run away.

Then, Nate and Sam go to Scotland and get a cross and do some puzzles and leave. Then they meet Rafe and Nadine. Nadine was met at the auction but I didn’t say that. Rafe then corners Nate and Sam on a cliff and tells Nate he let Sam out of jail. Then tries to shoot Nathan and Sam takes the bullet and Nate falls off the cliff. Nate’s wife (Elena) and Sully help him find Avery’s treasure and they find the treasure and Sam. Then Rafe finds Nathan on Henry Avery’s ship with his treasure and they get into a SWORD FIGHT. Nathan then slices a heavy bag of gold coins onto Rafe. Then Rafe dies. The ship burns down and Nathan gets away.

It is shown that Nathan took some of the treasure with him. He retires, then we go to a teenage girl. It is shown that she is Nathan Drake’s and Elena’s daughter. They go on a boat and go on a vacation, that he deserved for a long time.

Review:

Uncharted 4 has a great story and plot twists. The voice actors do an amazing job and the character development is great. It was a great ending to the game and you got to play Crash Bandicoot in the game, so that’s awesome.

Rating 10/10: Golden!

Spiderman PS4 Review by Derrick Stoicheff and Cooper Zettlemoyer

Spider-Man ps4 is an RPG game about spider-man. In this game, Peter Parker is 22 and has been Spider-Man for 8 years. There is a lot to unpack in this game so let's get unpacking.

Story: At the beginning of the game, Peter is finally about to capture the Kingpin after 8 years. He meets up with police captain Yuri Watanabe right outside of Fisk tower. After fighting some thugs and saving some people, you meet face to face with Kingpin. After an epic boss fight, the Kingpin is locked away for good. After that, you go to your job and talk to your boss, Otto Octavius, and go on with your day.

After fixing some radio stations Peter realizes the suit he's been using for 8 years isn't working for him anymore, so you go back to the lab to make your new suit. Unfortunately, while you’re doing that, Otto walks in on you. Fortunately, he thinks you just help Spider-Man and goes on with his life, and after that, you go out in the world with your new suit. After that, Yuri calls you and says they found a Fisk construction site. At the construction site, you unlock a new gadget, the impact web.

Nothing really important happens for a while until you meet Mary Jane (MJ), who is Peter's ex. You play as MJ for a little bit where you find out about a disease called Devil's Breath. After that, you go back to playing as Spidey and fight some thugs that call themselves The Demons. After that, you go to a warehouse where The Demons are hiding out. During this experience, you meet Jefferson Davis, a police officer trying to find The Demons. Right after this Spidey almost gets run over by a truck and Jefferson saves his life and is now called a hero for saving Spider-Man.

The next day, you are invited to go to a city hall thing for Jeff. Right before this, there’s a cut scene where we meet Jefferson’s son, Miles Morales. Then there is a tourist attack caused by The Demons where you play as Miles and see your dad get murdered.

On to act 2. MJ and Spidey are working together to find the leader of The Demons. MJ finds a lead on where The Demons are hiding. During this, you meet Silver Sable, who obviously does not like you.

After that Peter gets evicted from his apartment and has to find his stuff. He does and calls his aunt May, who says he can stay with her at the homeless shelter she works at. You go there and meet Martin Lee, who runs the homeless shelter. Then Peter chooses to investigate Martin and finds out that Martin is the leader of The Demons. Then Martin knows that you know, and you almost get killed.

After that, you sneak into Oscorp and find out more about the Devil's Breath. Then you follow Murtin to a Halloween party and Murtin makes a man kill himself because of what he knows about the Devil's Breath. And then there is a prison riot going on and you go to stop it. During the prison riot you fight five supervillains: Rhino, Vulture, Scorpion, Electro and Murtin. When you are fighting them, they reveal that they are on a team and their leader is Otto Octavius. After that it's basically just boss fight after boss fight until the final boss Otto Octavius. After you beat him, you visit Aunt May and discover she is dying and she reveals she always knew you were Spider-Man before she dies. Oh, and remember Miles?  It turns out that he also got bitten by a spider and now has spider powers of his own and then the game basically ends.

I only included stuff that I thought was important so there's still more of the game if you're interested in playing.

Gameplay: In Marvel's Spider-Man there are lots of good and cool mechanics. If you need any help with the controls, press options and you can see what buttons to press. There are many upgrades you can get for combat and for your webs and suits. And throughout the story, you unlock cool gadgets. Also, certain upgrades need tokens like base tokens and crime tokens.

Suits:  In Spider-Man, there are lots of suits like the suits from the comics and the ones from the movies.  In total, there are 38 suits, including nine DLC suits. In order to get tokens, you have to solve crimes and base battles, and you can also earn tokens by beating the game. Our personal favorites are the Ramie suit and the Ben Riley Scarlet Spider suit.

Overall thoughts: Overall if you like spiderman you will like this game. There are a few bad things like how the second act is boring. And if you get 100% in the game your reward is spider-man in under wear. So overall it's a 9.5/10 go buy it.

Video Games: Behind the Scenes By Justin Wallace

Every year, many millions of video games are sold- but what work goes into making these video games? There are many different game companies and even individual developers such as Nintendo, Re-Logic, Mojang, and Toby Fox, each of whom worked for years on their games. There are coders, artists, and directors, all of which are necessary for the game’s success.

Coders:

The coders of a game are the ones I have the most experience with, as that is exactly what I do when coding games. They will take the art and models the artists make and bring them to life via computer languages, such as C#, Java, C++, and Python.

Fun fact: Minecraft was originally coded in Java by Mojang, but when Microsoft bought it, they made a version that was made of C#, their own coding language.

Artists/spriters:

In addition to coders, there have to be many spriters- in fact, far more than there need to be coders. Artists will design concepts for what the characters will look like, and also make the models that you see in-game. In addition to characters, artists will often also have to design the textures of objects such as the floors, walls, and even the tiniest rocks. In many games, you might notice the graphics are in pixel art. This is because there are likely not enough spriters to efficiently make higher-quality graphics. Games like this are usually indie games- games with a single or small team of people making them.

Fun fact: In the game Terraria, it took them multiple months to sprite their final boss; the Moon Lord.

Directors:

The final--and smallest--major group of developers to be talked about is the directors. Like in a movie, the directors create most of the game’s concepts and push it in a general good direction where they think it would be the most fun/successful. In what we call “indie games,” games made by one person or a small group of people, directors will often code/sprite in addition to directing.

Fun fact: the original directors of both Minecraft and Terraria, as well as other games, did a large amount of the code.

In Conclusion:

If you want to become a developer of your own game, go ahead, it’s possible at any age. If you have trouble with coding or art, you could simply be the director of your game, and meet other people in the community who can help you out. I have proof that this is possible; I started my Terraria mod with no skills but learned how to code, and I met people online who were able to help me with spriting, and now it’s close to being finished!

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Game Summary - SPOILERS by Rasik Cruden and Derrick Stoicheff

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is a new Star Wars game that is sweeping the nation. The game takes place five years after Order 66, which was the purge on the Jedi Order where the clone troopers turned against the Jedi and killed most of them. The characters you follow are Cal, a padawan, Cere Junda, a former Jedi Master, and Greez Dritus, just a pilot that survived the purge. Over time you see the past of all these characters and they become a family along the way.

In the game, you get to go all over the galaxy and you get to see lots of planets like Dathomir, Bogano, Zeffo, Ilum and Kashyyyk from the Star Wars canon. Another cool part about Jedi Fallen Order is BD-1. BD-1 is a robot that Cal found on Bogano. BD gives health stims, which are things that BD shoots up and Cal injects himself with to get healthy. Cal only has a certain amount of stims and you can find them in yellow chests.

Cal Kestis is the main character in Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. Cal Kestis is a Jedi padawan whose master died in the Jedi purge called Order 66, which was ordered by Darth Sidious A.K.A Emperor Palpatine. Cal worked on a scrap yard on Bracca and worked with his friend Prauf. The Inquisitors attack and the Second Sister and Ninth Sister appears and kills Prauf. Cere and Greez save him. They go around to each planet to follow Eno Cordova’s path for the Holocron which has a list of force-sensitive children. Cere also talks about how she was forced to give her padawan’s location to the Empire. That padawan turned into an Inquisitor right in front of Cere’s eyes and she used the dark side of the force to get out of the same torture machine, then from that day on she didn’t use the force again.

When the Second Sister unmasked herself to Cal, she revealed she was Cere’s padawan Trilla, and she is going to get the Holocron and get revenge on Cere for giving her location to the Empire to torture her. In the climax of the game, Trilla fails her master and gets killed by him and her master turned out to be . . . DARTH VADER!

One very cool part of Jedi Fallen Order is Darth Vader. Darth Vader yeets Cere into a lava pit. Cal barely gets out alive, and Trilla gets destroyed. Darth Vader is a surprise at the end of the game. The only way of survival is escape. Darth Vader man-handles Cal and Cere comes back because she got out of the pit. And then they barely got out alive. On Vader’s bio, it says he is IMPOSSIBLE to beat and in the chase sequence, Vader basically teleports and doesn't even try when he is fighting a Jedi Master and Jedi Knight.

Rating 10/10: Strong With The Force!

Rey got a cool new lightsaber kyber crystal and the color is yellow. She also wants to forget her true identity which was kinda the theme of that movie finding your identity and she chose the one she wanted which was Rey Skywalker.

Another key thing at the climax of the movie is when Rey is calling to the Jedi in the force repeating “Be With Me” you can hear voices of Ashoka Tano, Anikain Skywalker, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan and a few others. At this moment Rey is seeing the destruction of her friends so she stands up against her Grandfather and he shoots his force lightning at her while she blocks with Luke’s lightsaber and Palpatine says “I am all The Sith!” Then Rey uses the force to grab Leia’s lightsaber and then says “I am all the Jedi!” Then she repels the lightning into Palpatine’s face and then he dies.

One thing that we saw was that the finale was kinda like Avengers: Endgame. When Lando brought in all those people in the ships it was like the portal scene, and when Palpatine said “I am all the Sith”! He was like Thanos saying “I am inevitable!” And that’s the same with Rey and Iron Man.

One thing we liked was the comedy in the movie and the new characters. One new character who was very likeable and cool was Zorii Bliss which was a character that had a background with Poe as a spice runner which i”ll just say in the real world is illegal and the greatest back and forth comedy line conversation was in this movie. Finn says “You were a spice runner?” Then Poe says “you were a stormtrooper”!? Then Rey says “Were you a spice runner?” Then Poe responds with “Were you a scavenger?!” “We can do this all day!”

Best and Worst Movies of 2019 by Rasik Cruden

  1. (Best) Avengers: Endgame:  This movie was the culmination of every MCU movie and was an emotional and impactful and action packed and brought together every MCU fans nostalgic dreams by going back threw the saga and was AWESOME

  2. (Worst) Cats:  The Cats movie was a lackluster and it will be taken out of theaters. The first major bad thing is very obvious: the CGI is really low quality. With all the actors in that movie I don’t know why they didn’t fix it. The second bad thing about the Cats movie is that the script is unfocused and the film as a whole is creepy and weird.

  3. (Best) Joker:  This movie was a chilling but a great portrayal of the Joker. Joaquin Phoenix was the star with his sadistic playing of the Joker won him a golden globe award. This movie went over the life of Arthur Fleck and his mental turn to Joker and the musical score, storytelling and other things made the movie great.

  4. (Worst) Dark Phoenix:  Dark Phoenix in my opinion feels like really fails to give us any reason to care about what’s going on like the script is kinda wacky and clunky. Also the plot is relatively bad.

  5. (Best) Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker: This movie wrapped up the Skywalker Saga and in pretty good way. There was good action, comedy and twists and was a good movie overall

  6. (Worst) Tall Girl: This Netflix movie was really not that good. The acting was alright the script was bad and a girl that is 6’1 which might be hard, but how are there no more tall people in her school?

  7. (Best) The Lion King (Live Action): This movie was a good version of the animated Lion King movie and I think the CGI and directing was pretty good and the designs on the characters were very good.

  8. (Best) Spider Man: Far From Home: This Spider-Man movie was one of the best of all time. There was good storytelling, screenwriting, acting and action.

  9. (Worst) Ugly Dolls: The script is pretty terrible, the voice acting is not very good and it was a forgettable movie

  10. (Best) Toy Story 4: In my opinion, Toy Story 4 was not the best Toy Story, but is was a good way to end that movie series. There was action and emotional parts, and you can’t forget Forky.

Television Review: "Sherlock" By Erica Edgar

Sherlock is a popular TV show which you can find on Netflix. Sherlock is a very brilliant detective who loves to solve crimes, especially murders. He is, however, very antisocial and likes to keep his feelings buried deep down inside. He can be at times, very insulting to other people, and he isn’t bothered by hurting their feelings. He is a private detective who solves crimes just by observing. He lives at 221B Baker street with his best friend John Watson, who also helps him solve crimes.

Sherlock is mainly used as a backup if the police can’t figure out what happened, but Sherlock loves to get himself involved without being asked. He usually figures things out before the police or any other organization can even begin to find a possibly as to what could have happened. However, since Sherlock gets himself involved, that makes him and John Watson targets, usually getting them in trouble and having their lives in danger.

He is a master at making deductions, and he is also very good at playing the violin. He is always up for a case, until things change for better or for worse.

This is one of my personal favorite shows, but hey, other people have different opinions. If you want to watch this show, it is rated TV 14, but because of violence, profanity, and drug references. There might be other reasons why it’s rated what it is, so I would clear it with your parents and or guardians first.

Each episode is usually around one and a half hours long, and it has 4 seasons, but there are only three episodes in each season. The actor who plays Sherlock is named Benedict Cumberbatch, who is also part of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and plays the character Doctor Strange. Sherlock's best friend, John Watson, is played by Martin Freeman, who has a very small part in the MCU as Everett Ross. Martin Freeman is also the title character in the Hobbit movies. If you like this and seem interested in Sherlock Holmes, I think you might enjoy the show.

Spiderman by Elisandro Aranguiz and Dillon Johnson

Ahhhhh, Peter Parker, the web slinger nicknamed Spider Man after his supernatural inheritance of spider powers.

Spider Man is actually Peter Parker, a 15 year old who lives in New York City. He also has supernatural powers in the new thrilling and exciting movie Spider Man Homecoming, but first Let’s talk about how he got those powers and why.

Peter Parker “inherited”  his powers when he was in school: l he went to Tony Stark's lab field trip,  and while they were talking about the mechanics of a machine, he decides to get curious and explore a lab he found in a farther back part of the lab. He approached a  tall shaped cylinder in front of him. He walked closer to it and noticed a control panel next to the vessel, which he decided to press a big red button (which is obviously not good at all) and you now what happened, the most predictable thing: the door opened and a swarm of spiders started flowing out. He luckily didn't get bit while he was in the lab, but, when he rushed out there was a spider on his back that he missed, and you know what: Crunch!

And it wasn’t any normal spider, it was a  venomous radioactive supernatural spider with radioactive venom, and that venom had infused into his cells and turned him into a superhuman.

The First Ever Spiderman Trilogy  By Rasik Cruden

Spiderman is a well known superhero who has had many movie adaptations, and the first modern Spiderman movies were directed by Sam Raimi. Raimi is an American filmmaker responsible for the first ever live-action, theatrical Spiderman movies.

In the first Spiderman movie of the Raimi trilogy, we are introduced to Peter Parker (Tobey McGuire), a nerdy high school student who gets bullied by Flash Thompson (Joe Manganiello), a jock who has a crush on M.J (Kirsten Dunst), who Peter also has a crush on.

One day while on a field trip to Oscorp, his best friend’s Harry Osborn (James Franco) dad’s lab, Peter gets bitten by a radioactive spider. When Peter gets home that night, he notices weird things happening to him, like super-strength, enhanced sight and being sticky!. Peter then makes a suit and enters a professional wrestling contest to get money for his uncle Ben. Peter wins, but the director of the contest only gave Peter a little of what was promised. A robber enters the room, steals the money, but Peter does nothing to stop him.  Later in the movie, that same robber shoots Peter’s Uncle Ben in a robbery, which leads Peter to feel guilty, which Peter tries to deal with by becoming a crimefighter.

Later, Peter finds out that his best friend Harry’s dad is evil and is the Green Goblin. Peter and the Green Goblin eventually fight at the movie’s climax.

In the second Spiderman movie, Peter is back and has been losing his powers because he couldn't balance his normal life with crime fighting. Peter tries to live a normal life and earns a scholarship from scientist Otto Octavius, then  goes to work with him. Octavius makes cyber-enhanced limbs, like tentacles, that come from machinery attached to his back. When the limbs malfunction, the interface messes with his brain and he turns into the evil Doctor Octopus. The climax of the story has Doc Oc and Spiderman fight on a train.

In the last installment in the Spiderman trilogy, Spiderman 3, Peter gets pounced on by a symbiote and it changes his suit and his attitude. Peter goes on a dancing spree with his new found emotions, but finally gets tired of the symbiote and finds its weakness which is sonic sound. During all of this, Peter’s friend Harry has been in a coma and when he comes out of it, returns as the Green Goblin (just like his father before him). Super villain Sandman also makes an appearance in this film, with a surprise that connects to the first movie. Eventually, the symbiote finds its way to a photographer named Eddie Brock, which turns him into Venom. Spiderman fights all three of the villains at the end, finishing the trilogy.
